PPK Contest Is SuccessfulPublished Wednesday, October 1, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesOver 30 participants took part in the NFL Gatorade Punt, Pass and Kick competition hosted by the South Clark County Jaycees on September 27 at Gus Brown Fields in Gurdon. These youngsters earned the right to compete in the state competition to be held October 11 at Old Main High School: Eight- and nine-year-old: 1st place, Kenneth Harper, 166 ft. and three inches; 2nd place, Daniel Francis, 146 ft.; and 3rd place, Jack Woolf, 144 ft. and 9 inches. Ten and 11 age division: 1st place, T.J. Morgan, 211 ft. and 11 inches; 2nd place, Brandon Bradshaw, 181 ft. and 3 inches; and 3rd place, Roman D. Montgomery, 173 ft. and 7 inches. Twelve and 13 age: 1st place, Tirrell Hatley, 328 ft. and 1 inch; 2nd place, Kenard Pegram, 236 ft. and 8 inches; and 3rd place, Stephen Stroud, 214 ft. and 8 inches. Ages 14 and 15 age: 1st place, Brannon Hatley, 276 ft. and 3 inches; 2nd place, Matt Dickerson, 266 ft. and 2 inches; and 3rd place, Greg Rhodes, 249 ft. Ages 14 and 15 for girls: 1st place, April Morgan, 171 ft. and 2 inches, and 2nd place, Dewet Brown, 90 ft. All the winners were from Gurdon.
