Sonic Is Summer Games FinalistPublished Wednesday, October 1, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesEmployees of the Gurdon Sonic, who will be in national competition, are carhop, Kim Ingrum; fountain, Patty Adams; swichboard, Martha Smith; grill Kay Jones; dresser, Timmy Powell; and swamp, Mary Golden. The Gurdon crew will be traveling to Pamana City, Fla., October 20 to compete. The Gurdon Sonic was named finalist of the 1997 Dr. Pepper Sonic Summer Games. Gurdon Sonic was one of 10 to be named out of a nation wide competition which started in the beginning of this summer. The 10 Sonic winners who will compete are: Roanoke Rapids, NC, Bethany, Ok, San Angelo, Texas, Lexington, MO, El Paso, Texas, Bolivar, MO, Arlington, Texas, Leland, MS, Sweetwater, Texas and Gurdon. The competition begans with in store competition to see who would win over their station area. The winners at the Gurdon Sonic are: Carhop, Kim Ingrum; Fountain, Patty Adams; Swichboard, Martha Smith; Grill, Kay Jones; Dresser, Timmy Powsell; Swamp, Mary Golden. On October 20 the Gurdon Crew will be traveling to Pamana City, Florida to compete in the 1997 Dr Pepper Sonic Games. Winners of the games have a chance to win up to $5,000 and they will receive many prizes. In celebration of this event, Gurdon Sonic would like to honor the customers that made this possible. On October 4th from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Kix Country and Buttons the Clown will be there. There will be prizes and entertainment and lots of Micky Mouse ear.
