In a special called meeting of the Nevada School Board, a tuition agreement with the Emmet School District was reached.

The Nevada Board, meeting Monday, Sept. 29, agreed to pay Emmet $1,748 per child for eight students. These students, who live in the Emmet district, will attend the Nevada schools.

Once the agreement was reached, the board discussed in-service hours for the members.

Superintendent Rick McAffee said there will be a new members meeting in Little Rock Thursday, Oct. 9 at the Embassy Hotel. This will help those attending work toward the six in-service hours required by law as it will be worth two hours.

The region 12 meeting scheduled to be held Monday, Oct. 13 at Saratoga, McAffee said, is worth two hours as well.

There will be a national vocational conference held in Little Rock Dec. 10-12, he informed the board. This meeting will be held at the Excelsior Hotel and will fill quickly. He said with the workshops held at this conference, a board member could easily complete the six required hours.

Before calling it a night, McAffee read a letter from the Joint Audit Committee, telling the board the district had a clean audit -- one of the best it has ever had.

School districts, McAffee told the board, are audited annually by law.
