n took the interception to the Prescott 12 before he was stopped. Five plays later Powell took it in for the TD. The point after try was good to make the score 26-19.

Once more the Curley Wolves showed they could move the ball offensively. This time they started 72 yards away from the goal line.

Woodley picked up two yards, then Duke gained four more. On the next play, Johnston went back to pass, but had to run. He gained about nine yards before he was stopped. A late hit penalty against the Leopards moved the ball to the De Queen 40.

Woodley again got the first call and gained two yards, then Van Hook picked up the first down at the Leopards' 24.

Duke rushed for seven yards on the next play. Johnston went back to pass again, but was rushed and he had to run, barely getting back to the line of scrimmage. He optioned to Van Hook on the third down, picking up two yards. On fourth and one, Duke got the ball and a good block by Van Hook to get the first down near the De Queen 10.

Van Hook managed one yard on first down, then Johnston connected with Jeremy Morrow for the TD in the end zone, making the score 26-25 in favor of the Leopards. This is when Bennett made the decision to win.

No doubt the no-call by the official brought about the next penalty against the Wolves. An unsportsmanlike conduct call against Prescott moved the kickoff back to the 25-yard line. An onsides kick failed as a Prescott player touched it before it went 10 yards. The Leopard took over at the Prescott 34 and rode out the clock.

In all, Prescott made 11 first downs while De Queen made 17.

The Wolves had a net of 158 yards offensively - 67 from rushing and 91 from five completed passes by Johnston. He threw nine incomplete and two were intercepted.

Pierce never completed a pass. He threw four incomplete and one interception.

The Wolves were penalized seven times for 65 yards; De Queen was penalized six times for 65 yards.

The game's leading rusher was De Queen's Powell with 110 yards on 22 carries, while team mate Stevens rushed 17 times for 100 yards.

Van Hook rushed 12 times for 46 yards for Prescott.

Prescott had four turnovers. De Queen had three.

Prescott is now 1-2 in conference play and 1-5 overall. De Queen has a 2-0 conference record and 6-0 overall. De Queen is the only undefeated team left in 7AA Conference.

This week the Curley Wolves will host the Fountain Lake Cobras. The Cobras are 0-2 in the conference and 1-4 overall. Last year, the Curley Wolves defeated Fountain Lake 27-7.

Next week the Curley Wolves will host Junction City for the last home game of the regular season to celebrate the Prescott homecoming. So this week and next week probably will be the last two home games for 1997.

Prescott still has the opportunity to go to the state playoffs, supposedly in fourth place.

Nashville dropped out of first place with a 31-0 loss to Fordyce. The Redbugs are now number two in the state in Class AA, Nashville is third and De Queen is sixth.

These standing could change this week as Fordyce (3-0 and 5-1) will travel to De Queen Friday night. Nashville (1-1 and 4-1-1) will host Bismarck (1-2 and 4-2).
