Rabbit Champs NamedPublished Wednesday, October 15, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesThe Clark County Fair held it's first "hands on" rabbit show. The judge was Gene Williams from Little Rock. Mr. Williams is a major rabbit breeder and an association member. Mr. Williams provided beautiful trophies for the Grand Champions and the Reserve Grand Champions. The show had it's own "Rabbit Wrangler", Marc Crawley gave assistance to those in need of help. The rabbits were placed in special judging cages for the show. The exhibitors stood behind their rabbits and the judge was able to take the rabbits out and examine them. The judge looked for major flaws or faults that would disqualify a rabbit of a certain breed. There were some close calls as the judge received a scratch here and there. The Grand Champions were: Brandon Russell and Hollie Hughes. The Reserve Grand Champions were: Carol Ann Duke and Jordan Easley. Other rabbits exhibitors included: Charity Killingsworth, Tex Killingsworth, Gary Shaw Jr., Jessica Pipkin, Callie King, Jason Langley, Spenser Stewart, Robin LeMay, Jonathan Russell, Michael Russell, Lezlee White, Abby Brumley, and Dawn Russell. Be sure to come next year and watch the excitement. Much fun was had by all. Keep growing those prize winning rabbits. Anyone interested in joining a 4-H club should contact the local County Extension Office at 246-2281. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
