Council Discusses Money Woes (cont)BY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, October 15, 1997 in the Gurdon Times ave been sent to property owners who have trash bins on the city rights of way. These residents have been asked to remove the bins from the ROWs. The letters have been hand delivered by GPD officers, with Smith creating a spread sheet to keep track of what happens with them. The topic of additional water lines to deer camps in the Bierne area came up as well. Smith said there may be money left in the rural water project to handle the extra lines, but said it wasn't right to let these people have the water for $125 as they didn't sign up by the deadline. Several people have signed up for water from the project since the deadline has past, Smith said, and paid the cost of having lines installed themselves. In one instance this cost about $1,200. This decision, he said, needs to be made by the Gurdon Water and Sewer Commission and council. The final order of business was a short discussion of the Nov. 18 special election. Smith said the city has followed the time line set by the city attorney and is now ready for the election. The city will not spend any money to advertise or promote the election, Smith said. If any is done it will be on an individual basis or by committees formed to voice their opinions. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
