Arthritis Causes Health Problems

Arthritis causes many problems for which there are no answers, but there is an alternative to coping alone, reports the Arthritis Foundation, Arkansas Chapter.

"If you have arthritis, you're not alone," Connie Cox, leader of the Hope-Prescott Support Group, said. "One in seven people here in Hope and Prescott has a form of arthritis. The Arthritis Foundation's Support and Education Groups bring together people facing the same challenges and problems that you are."

According to the Arthritis Foundation, many people with arthritis have found support and help through arthritis groups. The program offers practical information on how to cope with probolems and shows that others have had similar experiences and feelings.

The Arthritis Foundation, Arkansas Chapter, sponsors an arthritis group that meets once a month on a Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. The next meeting will be on October 28 in the class room at Medical Park Hospital in Hope.

"We welcome anyone who has arthritis or any related illness, even family and friends of people who have arthritis," Cox said. "We are a new group in this area. We need everyone's support to make this group a success, and to have fun, learn and to help others."
