Ribboncutting Set

Published Wednesday, October 22, 1997 in the Gurdon Times

Hillcrest Care and Rehab will have a ribbon cutting Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 on a new addition that began a few months ago.

Hillcrest announced the expansion in a news confernece in May at the annual industry appreciation day held at the Prescott Country Club.

The project was developed in Prescott over the past year and is another effort to meet the needs of area residents after the subsequent closing of Nevada County Hospital in 1995, according to Chandler Russ, executive director of Presctt-Nevada County Economic Development Office (EDC).

The ribbon cutting announcement was jointly made by EDC and the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce.

The enlargement of Hillcrest "stemmed from the high demand for private resident living areas and the need to meet rehabilitation purposes in the delivery of healthcare services for the current residents and new residents of Hillcrest Care and Rehab," Eddie Arnold, president of Colonial Homes, owner of Hillcrest, said.

The new wing has 19 new resident rooms, a large rehab area, new dining room, new Whirlpool-shower room and new barber-beauty shop, a joint news release said.

"The new expansion will create at least five additional jobs...we believe in Prescott and have been successful here," Margie Johnson, adminstrator of Hillcrest, said. Hillcrest's future is bright. If we did not think that Prescott was prepared for this, it would not have happened here."

"The preparedness thay have taken over the past couple of years has been impressive and we are ready to move forward," said Arnold.
