Denton Treks To CaliforniaPublished Wednesday, August 25, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneWalt Denton, executive director of the Prescott/Nevada County Partnership recently joined Entergy's Teamwork Arkansas looking for business prospects at a trade show in Anaheim, Calif. Arkansas has a strong wood products industry base, so it was a natural fit for representatives of the Natural State to look for business prospects as the Association of Woodworking and Furnishing Suppliers (AWFS) trade show held in Anaheim July 29-August 2. Teamwork Arkansas, the economic development department of Entergy Arkansas, sponsored a marketing trip for a team of economic development professionals made up of four Arkansas community representatives and three Entergy staff members. The team initiated contacts among the 740 manufacturers exhibiting at the show, looking for matches between what Arkansas has to offer and what expansion locations the manufacturers might be looking for. "We did very well this trip generating leads," said Greg Joslin, Teamwork Arkansas' trade show coordinator. "We came home with 21 'A' leads that's prospects with concrete plans to expand within a year and a willingness to look at Arkansas and 23 'B' leads, which are prospects with expansion plans that are less firm, but well worth following up on."
