G.I. Bill To Increase

The U.S. Army recently announced that the money for college under the army's college fund and the Montgomery G.I. Bill will be increasing effective October 1, because of the increase in the consumer price index.

Those entering active duty in the U.S. Army that quality for the Montgomery G.I. Bill will earn $15,834.60 for college if they enlist for three or four years. If you attend college as a full time student, you will receive $439.85 per month for 36 academic months.

The combination of the Army College Fund (depending on your military occupational specialty) and the Montgomery G.I. Bill will pay a person $40,000 for attending the college of their choice after a four-year enlistment. If you attend college as a full time student, you will receive $1,111.11 per month for 36 academic months.

The Selective Reserve Montgomery G.I. Bill increased to $7,521.48. A full time student gets $208.93 a month for 36 academic months, a three-quarter time student will get $156,69 a month for 48 academic months and a half-time student will get $104.46 a month for 72 academic months to attend the college or vocational technical of their choice. An army reserve soldier will also receive his or her drill pay.

High school seniors and college students can enlist now into the regular army or army reserves and become eligible to receive this money for college.
