Powell's Hog Is Premium At FairPublished Wednesday, October 29, 1997 in the Nevada County PicayuneLindsey Powell of Prescott was awarded premium of $950 from Brown Packing for her gilt hog at the Arkansas State Fair. Her gilt took first place at the Nevada County Fair in September. The junior livestock auction, an event of the fair saluting outstanding junior livestock exhibitors, raised $123,730 in premiums Friday, October 17, at the state fairgrounds in Little Rock. The premiums were awarded to 4-H Club and Future Farmers of America members, who showed prize-winning market animals in judging events held earlier in the week at the fair. The $123,730 in premiums was a record-breaking high for the auction, which has been held during the fair since 1946. Last year's auction raised $115,175 for the junior exhibitors.
