Tanna Brown FernaldPublished Wednesday, November 5, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesTanna Brown Fernald, age 78, of Etna, New Hampshire, died Wednesday, October 29, 1997 at Charlotte Regional Medical Center Hospital in Punta Gorda, Florida. She was born May 16, 1919, in Gurdon. A resident of Etna, Mrs. Fernald and her husband have wintered for the past 17 years in Punta Gorda. A graduate of Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, she continued her graduate work at George Washington University in Washington D.C. She served as a community leader in a number of organizations in Arkansas and during World War II worked for the Quartermaster General in Washington D.C., and remained active in the Harding Township, NJ, Hanovaer, NH and Punta Gorda communities. She is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Robert O. Fernald; two daughters, Carol Fernald Walker of Green Village, NJ, and Kathleen Adele Fernald of Yorktown Heights, NY; a granddaughther, Lisa Fernald Walker, and a grandson, Robert Daniel Walker, both of Green Village, MJ. Funeral services and burial was in Hanover, New Hampshire. Memorial donations are suggested, to Henderson State University, care of Dr. John Hall, Box 7550, Arkadelphia, AR 71999-0001.
