Salb Earns Degree

Amanda Salb of the Falcon community received her bachelor of arts degree from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Mass., Sunday, May 23.

She was one of 450 seniors who graduated during the college's 162nd commencement exercises, at which Pulitzer prize-winning author Anna Quindlen was the featured speaker.

While at Mount Holyoke, Salb majored in biological sciences. She received the Eastern College Athletic Conference Robbins Scholar-Athlete Award for a significant team contributor with noteworthy accomplishments, both academically and athletically, and a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher.

Salb was a member of the College Republicans, a tri-captain of the basketball team and a quad-captain of the track and field team.

Her outstanding athletic career during college included setting new school records and winning two national championships. She will hold a preceptorship at the Wildlife Center of Virginia, the setting for television show Wildlife Emergency of the Animal Planet.

Following this, she plans to live and work in Washington, D.C.

Salb is a graduate of Nevada High School in Rosston. She is the daughter of Karl and Jessie Salb of Falcon.
