Dragons Roast EaglesBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, November 12, 1997 in the Nevada County Picayune Genoa Central's Dragons barbecued the Emmet Eagles 82-48, Monday, Nov. 4. The Eagles were never close in the game as the Dragons opened with a 15-3 lead at the end of one and led 37-13 at the break. The intermission didn't help Emmet any as the Dragons continued their onslaught by outscoring the Eagles 27-12 to lead 64-25. Emmet was led by M. Hickman's 16. J. Rothenberger posted 12, while J. Ward scored 11. J. Hamilton paced the Dragons with 17, while C. Mason stroked the nylon for 15. J. Thane poured in 11 as well. JUNIOR EAGLES 26 JUNIOR DRAGONS 48 The junior Dragons kept the heat on Emmet as they scorched the junior Eagles 48-26. Again the Genoa squad opened well and kept the pressure on. The Dragons led 12-8 after one and were up 24-11 at the half. By the end of three, the Dragons had increased their advantage to 37-15 and didn't look back. Dee Muldrow and Jim Faulkner scored six each for Emmet. B. Mason was warm from the field as he canned 17 points to lead all scorers. D. McMurray added an even dozen. LADY EAGLES 36 LADY DRAGONS 27 The Lady Eagles posted Emmet's only win of the night as they won 36-27. The Emmet crew got off to a slow start as they trailed 8-7 at the end of one, but took the lead at the end of two 16-10. By the end of three, the Eagles were ahead 27-18.
