Chamber Winners NamedPublished Wednesday, November 12, 1997 in the Nevada County PicayuneHalloween was spooky in Prescott for anyone venturing out to local businesses. This was because of the first annual Halloween Costume Contest, as sponsored by the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce. A total of 63 people entered the contest, with Helen Hunt capturing first place dressed as a clown. Hunt works at Holly's Health Mart and garnered $20 for the win. second place went to JoAnn Pledger, an employee of Fred's, who dressed as an oversized baby. She won $15. Third place went to another Holly's employee, Kay Hendrix, who showed up for work in the guise of a scarecrow. But, the scariest costume was seen at Taylor's Big Star when Bill Allen showed up dressed as a woman. Mary Godwin, Chamber director, thanked everyone who participated in the contest for making it such a fun competition and success. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
