Oak GroveLula Q. KendrickPublished Wednesday, August 25, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune Homecoming was held at Harrison Chapel Baptist Church August 22 in Rosston with Rev. Bobby Box pastor. The homecoming speaker was Rev. Curtis Dansby, pastor of St. James AME Church in Texarkana. His text was 'Go home and Tell Your Story.' He really did preach good. They raised over a thousand dollars. There was a nice crowd. Revival will start Monday night at 7:30. The evangelist will be Rev. Rufus Hatley. Guest churches will be Harrison Chapel Baptist Church of Antoine and Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Okolona. I visited the nursing home at Prescott Friday. I visited with Clara Joe (Polly) and Leunice Cole and others. The park at Oak Grove is going to be nice. It is right behind Oak Grove Baptist Church. This will give the children somewhere to go. Let's pray together and not apart. Eula Mae Allen has been in the hospital. She is back home now, recovering from surgery. She teaches at Nevada School at Rosston. George went to Little Rock VA Hospital Tuesday (yesterday). He has good days and bad days. He is doing good for his age. James Johnson has been in the hospital. He is out and doing pretty good. He is a smart man and a good person. The tends to his own business and will help you if he can. His wife has been a sweet person to me. I thank god for what she has done for me. The annual homecoming will be held at Mt. Vernon AME Church September 5, the first Sunday. We are looking forward to that date. Rev. Chester Fort is the pastor. Rev. Clearance Reynolds will be the speaker for the afternoon. A real good speaker, he is the pastor of the Ashdown Circuit. Girtie Blake and Henry Staples are still on our sick list.
