Christmas Seal Campaign Starts

David A. Russell of Arkadelphia has been selected to lead the 1997

Christmas Seal Campaign in Clark County for the American Lung Association of Arkansas.

Through the annual campaign, county residents urge kids to not

smoke and the campaign aids children who sturggle to breath with their asthma. As county

chairperson, Russell has set the goal for Clark County at $2,000.00 and is asking people to answer their Christmas Seal appeal letters generously.

The Christmas Seal campaign runs through January 1998.

"When you give to Christmas Seals, you know that you will be helping someone right here in Clark County," Russell said. #"Ninety cents of every dollar raised by Christmas Seals stays in Arkansas," he said, #"and is used for patient education and research programs to fight lung diseases.

"The American Lung Association is researching cures for diseases

such as cancer, emphysema and chronic bronchitis. More than 250,000 people in Arkansas suffer with incurable lung disease right now," Russell said.

"That's why it is so important to give generously this year. The need

has never been greater," he said.

This year's colorful Christmas Seal features a white dove with holly leaves and berries. It was designed by artist Lauren J. Haggerty and is perfect for decorating your holiday cards and packages.
