Applications Are Sought

Central Arkansas Development Council began accepting applications for the Crisis Intervention Program on November 3.

This program will assist low-income households with home energy related emergency situations. The household must have an energy related crisis

situation on the date of application.

The Crisis Program has changed this year. To be eligible for assistance, the household must meet one of the following:

1. household has had a 20 percent or greater loss of income during

the previous month;

2. household's energy bills exceed 20 percent of the monthly

countable; or

3. household has non-covered medical emergency expenses in excess of 20 percent of the monthly countable income.

In addition, the household must have a crisis which could include:

below 10 percent tank capacity for butane or propane, or energy has

been shut-off, or energy is threatened to be shut-off.

If the household cannot meet these requirements, it will not be eligible for assistance.

Other guidelines include proof of prior month's income, asistance

adequate to alleviate the crisis, residency and resources.

Applications will be taken at the Gurdon Senior Adult Center or

Gurdon Head Start from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. For more information,
