Published Wednesday, November 12, 1997 in the Gurdon Times

A special election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 18 for a half-cent sales tax issue.

The revenue generated from the tax, if passed, will be used to purchase emergency warning sirens, institute an animal control system and assist the Gurdon Police Department. It is estimated the tax will generate $69,000 per year.

All city wards will be voting at City Hall. Early votes can be cast at the Clark County Clerk's Office in Arkadelphia until Nov. 17, during regular business hours, from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. This office is temporarily located in a metal building behind the old Clark County Courthouse.

Applications for absentee ballots can be obtained from Clark County Clerk Linda Franklin-Hood by calling (870) 246-4491.

Any questions a voter may have concerning this election can call the Gurdon City Hall at 353-2514, or the clerk's office at 246-491.
