Homemakers MeetPublished Wednesday, November 19, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesDid you know the best way to lose a friend is to tell him something for his own good? This eye opener was given by Jean Toland, president of the Red Springs Homesmakers Club, at its November 13 meeting. Mattie Talley hosted the meeting with 20 members attending, including three new members, Hedi Jester, Cathy Gooding and Ginger Overturf. Joyce Rutherford gave the devotion. Prayer was led by Jean Toland. New kitchen accessories was the program given by Sybil Harris, then each member told of her favorite kitchen gadget or accessary she used most of all. Several members volunteered to teach the making of spool angel ornaments to the Hilltop 4-H Club December 8. A food basket will be given to a family Thanksgiving. Betty Cook will teach the country craft class November 19 at 9:30 a.m. at the E.H. Building in Arkadelphia. She will demonstrate how to make a fabric wreath for Christmas. Plans have been finalized for the Christmas tour of homes on Sunday, December 7, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in Arkadelphia. Tickets are $5 and may be bought at any of the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Dunn, Dr. and Mrs. Frank Teed and Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Turpin. The tour is open to the public and Red Springs will be hostess at the Turpin home. Elizabeth Wilson won the door prize. The meeting was adjourned with Sharon Hank reading the Homemakers Prayer.
