Pesticide Sessions Begin Dec. 2Published Wednesday, November 19, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesThe Clark County Extension Service will be holding two sessions for private pesticide applicators soon. The first will be Tuesday, December 2, at 6:30 p.m. The second will be Monday, January 19, at 6:30 p.m. Both meetings will be held at the EHC Kitchen on Clark County Fairgrounds. The peticide permits in Arkansas are handled by the Arkansas State Plant Board. The training sessions are given by the county Extension agent. Persons may attend a training session in any county. Some people may be confused as to who a private pesticide applicator is. This training is designed for one person for each farm that produces a farm product that uses a resticted use pesticide. Homeowners may purchase large supplies of pesticides. The training is not for commercial landscape applicators, highway right-of-way sprayers, city or school employees or persons who do spraying for their employer. Catergories must take the commercial examination depending upon the type certification they desire. The commercial exam is usually given in the spring and pre-registration is required. So if you need information on any category other than a private applciator (farmer) you may contact the Arkansas State Plant Board at 225-1598. The State Plant Board will provide study packets for persons who wish to take the comercial test. Farmers must attend a training session every five years and must send in their license fee each year. If you watched the video training in 1997, you will have to attend a training session before getting a certification. If you have questions about your certification the Extension office will try to assist you. The number is 246-2281. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
