At GMS

Published Wednesday, November 19, 1997 in the Gurdon Times

Time is simply flying by us at Gurdon Middle School, or is it that we are just so busy that we loose track of time?

We had a salesman to talk to the students about selling jewelry that the profit would go for things needed for the school. Several students are selling various items from the catalog and hopefully we will be able to make some needed purchases for all of the students to benefit from.

Of course we are excited about the senior high football team being Class A conference champs! We are fully supportive of the team.

The citywide pep rally conducted at the GMS gym was a very successful event. The senior cheerleaders and football players were recognized and many tears were shed. After graduation, this year will bring to a close a part of their lives that will always be very special to them. We wish each of them nothing but the best.

Jr. Beta induction is to be Wednesday (today) in the auditorium. It is always such a pleasure to see those students receiving the honor of becoming Beta members. Mrs. Karr and Mrs. Bullard as sponsors do such a good job with those students. We are expecting many of the parents to attend the induction.

Progress reports will be sent home Thursday, as it is the mid- nine weeks of the second nine-week period. (See what I mean about the time seeming to be flying by?)

The "Lunch Bunch" in Mrs. Clingan's room treated themselves to pizza Friday. About 16 students indulged, and some over indulged in pizza and cheese bread. That may become a habit.

This week is going to be busy, as we have a circus for kids coming Thursday. Also plans are being made for the basketball shoot-out for Easter Seals. More about that later. But, until next week, just remember we appreciate your concern and all that you do to help us, as we are making those Classy moments at GMS.
