Suspect Flees From OfficersBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, November 19, 1997 in the Gurdon Times It took a while, but officers were able to apprehend a 30-year-old Gurdon man following a car and foot chase Tuesday, Nov. 11. According to reports, Aundre Laray Henry, was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended license, fleeing, no insurance, possession of marijuana, criminal trespass, reckless driving, disregarding police orders, three charges of ignoring stop signs and another three felony charges, which include drug possession. The chase began when Arkadelphia Police officer Pete Dixon tried to stop Henry for a traffic violation -- no license on the vehicle. However, Henry didn't stop and, instead, fled. Henry ran a stop sign at 16th and Pine in Arkadelphia, and again at 17th and Caddo. His high speed driving almost resulted in collisions with other drivers at various areas. The suspect left the vehicle at 19th and Crawford, running into nearby woods. He, and another suspect, refused to stop when ordered by police. Both suspects ran in different directions. Other officers were called in to assist Dixon in the search. The chase lasted 20 minutes for Henry, who was captured east of Peake on North Crawford. A subsequent search of the wood turned up seven grams of cocaine, while two grams of marijuana were found on Henry at the Clark County Sheriff's Office, while a marijuana cigarette was found in the vehicle Henry had left. Officials also seized $320 in cash and a 1977 Datsun. Henry was thought to have been armed, but no weapon was found. According to Gurdon Marshal David Childres, the Gurdon Police Department had been trying to catch Henry for some time, believing him to be involved in drug trafficking.
