Smokeout Is Nov. 20Published Wednesday, November 19, 1997 in the Nevada County PicayuneTo promote better health for young and old, the American Cancer Society will sponsor the Great American Smokeout Thurs- day, November 20. Pam teague explained the activi- ties at the ACS meeting last Thurs- day at the First United Methodist Church. All Nevada County schools and the Nevada County Senior Citizens Center will be given stickers, information and literature to help those who use tobacco learn to quit. People will be shown how stopping smoking for even one day can lead to a better life. Committee reports were given by Scootie DeLamar with two Reach to Recovery visits and Lanora Dalrymple on cookbook sales and next year's crusade. Bill Wright, representing the state ACS, said a new area represent- ative, Sharon Barber, will in Prescott this week. Phyllis Stewart, president of the Nevada County chapter, presided during the meeting, welcoming new members and conducting other business. The next meeting was set for March 19, 1998.
