Gurdon residents need to get up early Saturday, Dec. 6, and prepare for Christmas in Gurdon.

The annual festivities will kick off with a parade at 10 a.m. beginning at the Gurdon Middle School. All businesses, churches, other organizations and individuals are invited to have a float or decorate a vehicle for competition or advertisement. There is no entry fee to be in the parade. However, entrants need to be at GMS by 9 a.m. to line up.

Drawings for gift certificates will be held at 2 p.m. Those wanting to try their hand at winning can sign up in any business which is a member of the Gurdon Chamber of Commerce.

Businesses in the city will be offering special deals Saturday, with some having drawings of their own.

"We are very excited about the parade and Christmas in Gurdon," Anita Cabe, Chamber president, said. "We would like to encourage everyone to stay after the parade and visit our local stores for Christmas gift ideas."

Merchants wanting to participate in the gift certificate drawings can call Charles Cabe at 353-4444.
