Old Timer's Rodeo Set For County FairBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, August 25, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune An Old Timer's Rodeo will help kick off the Prescott-Nevada County Fair next week. Tuesday, Aug. 31, the Prescott FFA Alumni will be hosting the first annual Old Timer's Rodeo. This event will consist of four teams of four contestants each. They will compete in five rodeo events to determine an overall champion team. Three members from each team will be involved in the wild cow milking contest, always a fun event. The next event, team roping, will require two from each team to try and head-and-heel unwilling cattle. This will be followed by one lucky member being entered in the chute dogging competition. There will be one member from each group entered in the calf roping event as well. One of the more interesting events could turn out to be the wild mule packing contest. Three members from each team will try to fill the packs on a wild mule, then lead said mule across a finish line but only if the critter is somewhat cooperative. The points each team earns will be added up and the team with the most points will be the winner. Members of the winning team will get a new Stetson hat from Lee's Western World. However, all teams must consist of four adults. Entry fees for the Old Timer's Rodeo is $100 per team. To enter, teams must call 887-2473 between 7-9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29. Admission to the rodeo will be $2 for adults and $1 for children. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
