ey added another three point shot to her stats, cleaned the glass seven times and had five assists.

Jessica Hendrix stepped up inside with six boards and blocked four shots.

The Lady Rams were led by Freyneave's 18. Mooney scored 12 and Leonard had 10.

The Wolverettes were 12-18 from the charity stripe, while Lakeside was 7-9.

ALMA 55

Four games in five days combined with three straight trips to Mena proved to be too much for the Wolverettes in the final game of the Mena Classic as they fell to Alma 55-51.

The girls were leg-weary and it showed as the Lady Airedales were able to take the lead early and Prescott couldn't get a shot to fall.

Alma made use of its potent inside game in the first period as they took a 12-8 lead.

The Lady Airedales showed a lot of patience on offense, working the ball for the open shot.

Still, they had not faced an opponent as stubborn as Prescott. The Wolverettes cut the lead to 14-12 with 6:04 left in the second period, but were unable to maintain their momentum as the half ended with the score 25-18 in Alma's favor.

The contest shaped up early as Prescott's outside game against Alma's inside attack.

The Wolverettes did what they could from beyond the perimeter, hitting five three-point shots, but had no answer for Alma's big girls in the paint.

Alma maintained its seven-point spread at the end of three with the score 38-31.

But, the Wolverettes wouldn't go away. They fought to within one, 52-51, late in the game, but couldn't get over the hump.

Stockton led Prescott with 21 points, including her first three pointer of the year, and nine rebounds. Cossey ripped the cords for 16, including a trio of treys and four boards, while Graham netted 12 points. Scott cleared the glass nine times for the Wolverettes.

Candie Owens was the game's leading scorer with 22, while Amanda Summers added a dozen.

The Wolverettes were nine of 12 from the free throw line, while the Lady Airedales spent a good deal more time there, netting 20 of 24.

Because of the point spread, the Wolverettes were declared the tourney champs, as Alma had lost to Lakeside earlier.

MENA 37

Prescott's senior boys didn't fare as well in the classic as the girls did.

In fact, the Wolves dropped all three games they played, though they battled hard against Mena in the opener.

A poor second quarter proved to be Prescott's downfall after a 6-6 first quarter, as the Wolves were outscored 12-2 and were down 18-8 at the half.

There was no quit in the Wolves though, as they battled back in the second half, cutting the score to 29-25 at the end of three.

Brian Wilson led theWolves with 14 points.

Steele paced Mena with eight.

Prescott was three of six at the line, while Mena was eight of 16.

ALMA 59

Youth and the long road trip took its toll on the Wolves when they tangled with AAA power Alma in the second game Friday night, falling 59- 43.

The Airedales jumped out to a 16-9 lead after one and never looked back. The score was 28-20 at the half and 44-37 at the end of three. The Wolves ran out of gas in the final eight minutes.

Wilson paced the Wolves with 18, while Scott Hobbs added 11.

Ray led all scorers with 26 for Alma. Robertson scored 12 and Pierson added 10.

LAKESIDE 66

The Wolves had nothing left for their final game Saturday afternoon. The four games in five days and three consecutive trips to Mena proved to be too much.

The Rams jumped on the Wolves early en route to their 66-45 win. Lakeside was up 20-11 at the end of one, being hot from beyond the arc, while the Wolves were guilty of mistakes made by inexperienced players. This is not unusual as Prescott graduated the bulk of the crew who played last season and went to the regional tourney.

Coach Matt McClure has no senior leadership to rely on and must play juniors and sophomores with little or no game experience.

The lack of experience showed as the Rams pulled to a 39-25 halftime lead and were up 51-36 at the end of three.

Wilson led the way for Prescott with 14, while Heath Gammage added 11 and Hobbs netted 10.

McCoy led Lakeside with 10.

The Wolves were 15 of 23 from the line, while Lakeside was five of nine.
