Food Drive Underway In County

While we should strive to help our fellow man throughout the year, during the Christmas holidays, it is even more important.

In order to help feed the area's needy, a food drive is being held until Dec. 12 at the Prescott Elementary School. This is being done in conjunction with Beverly Health and Rehabilitation, the Nevada County Pageant Association, the Prescott Lions Club, Prescott Rotary Club, Nevada County Ambulance Service and Rep. Sandra Rodgers.

According to Kelli Bair, admissions director with Beverly, after Dec. 12, those involved will be going directly to area businesses seeking donations.

Canned foods and dry goods are being sought by the drive. Any non-perishable items are welcome. Bair said cash donations would also be accepted, with the money used to purchase more food stuffs. Those wishing to contribute cash, can make checks payable to the Nevada County Jaycees.

"We're going to try and feed as many as possible," Bair said, adding the drive will accept toys as well. "The toys need to be new or in good shape."

Delivery of the food baskets and toys will be done Tuesday, Dec. 23.
