RosstonPublished Wednesday, December 23, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneMarguerite Williams Last week's news: We at Rosston would like to extend sympathy to the families of Mattie Jean Atkins and Bonnie Barham. Both were buried this week. Mattie Jean's funeral was on Monday at Shackelford Funeral Home in Prescott with Bro. D.D. Fairchild and Bro. Wayne Langston officiating. Bonnie Barham's funeral was Friday afternoon at Cornish-Brazzel Funeral Home in Prescott with a former pastor and Bonnie's daughter's pastor of Mesquite, Texas, officiating. All the pastors did a good job with the funeral and both ladies will surely be missed. Roscoe and I went to both funeral homes and then went back for services. It has been a busy week at our house as usual. Other than going to funerals Roscoe had an eye appointment and I had an ear appointment in Texarkana. We had supper one night with granddaughter Ginger and on Friday night we took fish to Bill and Pat Lusby's in Camden and had supper with them. On Saturday night we celebrated Jimmy and Booie William's birthdays with a meal at the Feed House in Magnolia. Bill and Maxine Freeman and Tori and Kathryne Rocole also attended. Our brother-in-law, Carl Burke, and Ann Walker of Hope were married on Saturday evening. We wish them happiness these last few years they have to live. The youth of our church attended the living Christmas tree at Emenual Baptist Church in Callendale Sunday afternoon. They had lunch on the way down there. The family of Tom and Rosa Goodwin had their annual Christmas reunion at Whites Chapel on Saturday night. Only 26 were present, but they report lots of good food and a great time. Van O'Keefe spent the weekend with his mother, Valeria O'Keefe. He hunted and was lucky enough to get an 8-point buck. Son Dwight of Texarkana has spent several weeks of vacation hunting here, but didn't have very good luck. He has to return to work on Friday. LeVergne White is doing fine after having surgery on her hand last week. Dorothy Dixon had surgery on her arm in Texarkana this week, but was able to be back playing the piano in church today. Sue Mitchell of Little Rock was a visitor in church today. She has been coming to church here while they are down deer hunting. We are happy to have her. Those having December birthday's in church this month are Christy Taylor, Brenda Jensen and Jennifer Gresham, possibly others. Maxine Luck had two doctor appointments in Little Rock this week. Remember all the sick and bereaved when you pray. Several from around here attended the band concert at Nevada School this week. Guest of the Wayne Jarvises for the weekend were their grandson Ronnie and family of Houston. He came to deer hunt. They all had lunch on Sunday with the Abb Mormans of Prescott.
