EmmetPublished Wednesday, December 23, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneAnita Allen The city of Emmet will not pick up trash Thursday, December 24. However, trash will be picked up Saturday, December 26. Normal trash pick up will resume on December 28. Last week's news: 'Tis the season to be busy! Yea, but truly don't forget the reason for the season. I don't think Jesus wishes us to have a busy month without honoring him. Other birthday wishes are: December 13 Huey Davidson, Justin Curry, Vicki Simmons and Dorothy Hamilton; 14th Shane Antley; 15th Luvengia Brown; 17th Jeff Faulkner, Marilyn Hand and Mary J. Rose; and the 19th Juanita F. McKillion. At the Dec. 9 Emmet City Council meeting, the council awarded Mayor Ottis P. Otwell with a plaque for the past eight years of dedication and commitment to Emmet. Plaques honoring aldermen Jack Faulkner for 12 years of service and Renee Sells for six years were also presented. A big thanks to those who helped with the fifth annual Emmet parade, and to the E.V.A. ladies who served refreshments. Emmet School's gifted and talented class had the opportunity Dec. 11 to meet King and Queen Gadberry from Southwest Arkansas Arts Council, which presented The Boar's Head Feast, a Christmas madrigal dinner held in Hope. This was an educational and experience for all. If you missed it, we hope they do this again in the future. The Emmet Elementary School music class will present a Christmas program Thursday, December 17, at 7 p.m. at the school cafeteria. We also wish Yovonne Thomas, the music teacher, a speedy recovery from her broken leg. Hurry back! Jimmy Goodson is still recuperating from a heart attack and mild stroke. He's currently staying in and out of the hospital. For information about a drawing for an Afghan, contact Trish at 887-3379. Your support is greatly appreciated. If you look down the streets of Emmet you'll see just about blue piping throughout. That's because of the water project started a few weeks ago. Estimated completion date will be the middle of next year. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
