Sam JonesPublished Wednesday, February 4, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneSam Jones, 82, of Prescott, died Friday, January 30, 1998, at his home. Mr. Jones was born February 5, 1915, in Prescott to Ellis and Susan Elizabeth Dye Jones. He was a farmer, a former forest technician at Potlatch, and a former employee of Nevada County Roads and Ozan Lumber Company. He was a member and founding father of Fairview United Methodist Church of Prescott. He was preceded in death by one brother, Everett Jones and one sister, Vera Brown. Survivors include his wife, Mary Beth Jones of Prescott; one daughter, Phenea Jones Youngman of Prescott; one sister, Mamie Stewart of La Mesa, Calif.; two grandsons, Lonnie Hawkins of Prescott and Shawn Hawkins of Prescott; and four great grandchildren, Hollie Hawkins, Morgan Hawkins, Madison Hawkins and J.D. Sampson all of Prescott. Funeral services were Sunday, February 1, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J.R. Callicott and Rev. Jerry Westmoreland officiating.
