Rev. Jim Lenderman of First United Methodist offered prayer for the churches and ministry organizations. Rev. Rev. Chuck Sullivan from Central Baptist Church offered prayer for federal, state and local leaders.

For the last 20 minutes, people gathered at six rotating prayer stations to continue to group pray.

As part of the closing, a proclamation issued by Gov. Mike Huckabee proclaiming May 7 as a National day of Prayer in state, was read.

Part of an ongoing effort of National Day of Prayer is to encourage praying people to adopt a leader to pray for throughout the coming year.

The group encourages all those who could not attend the National Day of Prayer, to consider adopting a federal, state or local leader to hold up in prayer. In addition, the group encourages those who wish to adopt a leader to consider corresponding with that leader to know how to more effectively pray for them.

Next year, the event will also be held in the evening for those who can not attend at noon.
