The Prescott Little League Baseball season opened Monday, May 4, with three games.

In the first game at the bright and sunny Prescott Sports Complex, the game got underway with AllCare from Rosston going three up and three down with Zack Martin on the mound for the Lions.

The Lions came to bat with Matthew Hodges getting the first base hit of the season. After the bases were loaded, Zack Martin hit an infield fly that was dropped, scoring two runs.

AllCare did not give up as they came back with 5 runs before Eli Ratcliff had two inside-the- park home runs for the Lions.

The Lions roared by the score of 22 to 5.

In the only game of the night at Livingston Field, in the nice shade of the early evening, Kiwanis took an early lead over Bluff Springs from Rosston when R.J. VanHook doubled to right field, scoring two runs.

Levi Fitch then came up with the big play, scoring an inside-the-park grand slam home run, making it Kiwanis make it 6-0 over Bluff Springs.

Chris Hopper had a nice debut on the mound for Kiwanis, as they breezed with the final score of Kiwanis 16-7.

In Monday's late game, VFW's Jason Butler threw a no-hitter, facing only 12 batters, striking out 11.

In the top of the first, Rotary's Aaron Bullock led off with a walk and he was then picked off first by a fine play by first baseman Cody Moseley. The next eleven batters wore struck out and Jason Butler had his first no-hitter and a shutout.

In the bottom of the second inning, VFW's bats came to life when, after two walks were issued, Philip Hull tripled and Thomas Sayers had an inside-the-park home run as VFW had a big inning with 12 runs on 8 hits, getting revenge for last year's losses. The final score was 12-0.

On a cloudy second night of action Tuesday, May 5, Lions and Rotary battled in the first game of the night at the James Johnson Sports Complex.

Aaron Bullock was the starting pitcher for Rotary. Eli Ratcliff was on the mound for Lions.

Dan Ingram tripled with the bases loaded. Cody Brown and Miles Turner also had triples to give Rotary an early 11 to 4 lead.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Lions began a comeback with Eli Ratcliff hitting the fence in the air with a strong drive off his bat. It was just like kissing your sister as Rotary and Lions tied at 11 all.

In the only game of the night at Livingston Field, Western Auto was excited about opening their season. Bluff Springs from Rosston would be their opponent.

P.J. McKinnon was on the mound for Western Auto. Left-hander Cody Langston was the starting pitcher for Bluff Springs.

Deon Box and Bobby Gulley both doubled and each stole home. Reco Mixon also hit a double as Bluff Springs jumped to an early lead and sprung to a 17 to 7 victory for the boys from Rosston.

The last game of the evening at the complex had a no-hitter pitched by VFW's Adam Beaver.

Only 1 AllCare of Rosston player hit the ball and it was a grounder back to the pitcher, Adam Beaver.

VFW scored 16 runs on 8 hits and were paced at the plate by Zach Niemeyer and R.J. Baker, both with a single and a triple a piece, as VFW rolled to a 16-1 victory.
