RosstonPublished Wednesday, May 13, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneMarguerite Williams I hope all mothers had a good day. Our pastor brought a great message for the mothers in our church. Guests were our granddaughter, Ginger, and her son, Tyler, McKinnon of Texarkana; Elsie Williams had her son, Bob; Helen Daniels had daughter, Jan; Mrs. Pat Jensen had her daughter as a guest; and Robert and Wendy Gibson were also guests. Sue Dixon brought a friend, Royce Malone. We were happy to have all these people or our crowd would have been slim. Seems that lots of people either had company or an event elsewhere. Our pastor and Laura furnished the corsages for the youngest mother present which was our granddaughter, Ginger. The mother with the most children present got one, which was Helen Daniel. She had all three of her daughters with her. Our oldest mother was Aunt Elsie Williams. Congratulations to these precious mothers and many thanks from the church to Bro. Petie and Laura. They are a great team to lead our church. The youth of our church did real well on Saturday with the car wash, bake sale and rummage sale. Thanks to all who participated. Ila Carpenter went to West Monroe, La., for Mother's Day with daughter Alice. She met granddaughter Allison, grandson Freddy, his wife Judy and their two little sons at Alice's house. Aunt Edna Mae Hart of Serepta, La., has had a stroke and is in a Minden hospital pretty ill. Remember her and her family in your prayers. Helen Daniels' brother, Paul Ghormley, of near Prescott was taken to a Hope hospital this weekend with a heart attack. Remember him in your prayers. B.C. Dillard's brother-in-law, Bud Freeland of Camden, still needs our prayers. Valeria O'Keefe had as guest for Mother's Day, all her children and their families on Saturday night. Roscoe and I had as guests after church today most of our family. Marion, Tori, Brandon and Marty had to work, but the rest were here. A.B. Luck met the plane in Texarkana Monday morning to pick up grandson Jeff Hunt. He flew in from Tampa and will be here several days. The Dail Evans celebrated son's, Bro. Jerry Evans of Taylor, birthday on Saturday night. We were happy to have Misty Gibson back in church Sunday after having surgery about two weeks ago in Texarkana. She had a virus bug this week and had to go see her doctor again. A.B. Luck and Roscoe also have had a bug. If our place looks a little bare it is because we had six large pines cut in our yard this week, thanks to Ralph McKinnon and his crew of Prescott. Faulkner and son of Hope drilled out the stumps for us. They all did a good job, but the work of cleaning up has almost killed Roscoe and I. Louise Young of a nursing home in Magnolia will celebrate his 99th birthday Monday. Her son and his wife of Celey, Texas, are coming to spend a few days with her while she is home. Roscoe and I visited her on Saturday afternoon. Paul Cooper and Janice also visited with her. Roscoe and I and my brother of Hope attended a cousin's funeral in Nashville on Friday afternoon. Robert Payne passed away this past week. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
