Cobb Hopes To Unseat DuCharme As TreasurerBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, May 13, 1998 in the Nevada County Picayune Karen Cornelius Cobb is running for the office of Nevada County Treasurer. Cobb, a political newcomer, said her interest and concerns for the people of Prescott and Nevada County were the reasons she is seeking political office. "My roots are here," she said. "I like working in Nevada County. "You don't have any leeway in how money can be handled," she continued. "You can invest wisely to increase the amount of money the county has and help make everyone's job better." Cobb said the treasurer can also get involved in any community activity which may make the county more money." Cobb has experience in accounting, and has completed a course in computers at the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope, and plans on taking more this summer and fall. The office, she said, is audited annually and every penny must be accounted for. In her spare time, Cobb enjoys helping her mother with the farming operation, water skiing, camping, fishing and gardening mostly flowers.
