Rosston NewsPublished Wednesday, January 14, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneSympathy to Hazel Sullivan's family of Camden and Houston. She has been buried since I wrote last. B.C. Dillard, Wayne Jarvis and Roscoe and I attended the funeral at Proctor Funeral Home in Camden. Hazel and Pierce lived in Rosston many years. She taught all our children and he was our mail carrier for many years. She was a great teacher and a wonderful person. She will be missed by many in Rosston and Willisville, too, as this is where they went to church. Mr. Sullivan was one of the nicest people I ever knew. We extend sympathy to the Trippett family, too. Carolyn Trip-pett's mother was buried the day after Hazel Sullivan in the Rosston Cemetery. Bro. Petie brought a good message today and we sang Happy Birthday to the January birthdays. Among them were Sue Hart, Louise Ritter, Lyn Dean Morman, Maxine Luck, Charity Reeves and possibly others. Mary Smith also had a birthday, which was Friday. Her family went to the Pie House near Rosston for supper. Roscoe and I had supper at Western Sizzlin Friday night with my brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Minne Ella Schmitt, of Hope at the Western Sizzlin. A.B. and Maxine Luck ate supper Friday night at The Rails. Our guests last Sunday night after church were Bro. Ray and Nettie Bowman of Bodcaw. He has recently made a tape and they brought us one and had supper with us. Jack Daniels did the background music for him and they did some beautiful songs. He is selling some tapes if you would like to have one. A young men's quartet, 'Infinite Grace' of Camden will render a gospel concert at Rosston Baptist Church Saturday night, January 24, at 7:00. Other featured singers will be Bro. Bowman of Bodcaw, Angel O'Hara of Camden, Shelly Keith of Hope, Zane Glascock of McNeil will be here with his guitar and harmonica, Dale Lindsey of Camden, Jeff and Thara Carlton of Rosston, and Irene Lindsey of Camden will render a piano solo. She does a great job but they all do. The quartet consists of three seniors and a sophomore, who is the bass singer. They are students at Camden Fairview High School. There will be a love offering taken for the quartets. Everyone is invited. If weather doesn't permit, it will be postponed until a later date. Faye Harris, Booie's Aunt, is seriously ill in St. Micheal Hospital in Texarkana and needs our prayers. Our great granddaughter, Kathryne Rocole, was in a wedding in Aunt Faye's family on Saturday night in Texarkana at Special Events. She was a flower girl. Roscoe's Aunt Allie Mae (Williams) Martin of Shreveport, La., broke her hip and was taken from the nursing home to a hospital. A group and myself will meet Thursday night at Carl Gann Lake at Laneburg to plan a Laneburg School Reunion. We are looking at the date of October 3 for this event. More later. Ruth Vinson had a guest from Marysville, near Magnolia on Friday. Virginia Dillard has been spending several days with Aunt B. Jarvis in Texarkana while daughter Betty was away. Little Ashley, great grand-daughter of Jim and Mona Dixon, was in an accident recently and got a cut on her face, but she is okay now. The storm did quiet a bit of damage to the new home of Ed and LaDonna Cross. Also blew the barn away at the J.P. Harts and Milburn Harts and the Jim Cross and Kevin Stone got some damage to their homes and also Eddie Janes' mother's carport was blown away. Thankful it wasn't worse.
