Alcoholics Anonymous, a fellow-ship of men and women who wish to stop drinking, meets every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.

Al-Anon, for those affected by another's drinking, meets Thursday

evenings at 8:00 in the church. For more information call 887-5991.


Narcotics Anonymous now meets in Gurdon at the Presbyterian Church on Tuesdays and Fridays from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. For more information, call 353-6612.


The second annual Miss UACCH Pageant will be held March 14 in the auditorium of University of Arkansas Community College at Hope. Contestants must be currently enrolled at UACCH.

For further eligibility requirements and entry forms, call Jamie West at 870-777- 5722, extension 239. The deadline for entries is February 13. It is a preliminary pageant for choosing Miss Arkansas and Miss America.


Prescott Elementary School is now accepting orders for the 1998 yearbook. This year's book will be called Children's World. It will feature more than 40 pages of pictures. The cost of the book is $15. Place your order early as no extra books will be ordered. The deadline for ordering is February 6. Flyers with ordering instructions were sent home by PES students on Wednesday, January 7.

If you would like to order one for your child or grandchild, contact Prescott Elementary School at 887-2514.


SWADC Literacy classes will be held weekdays in Prescott beginning in February. Class times are flexible You can help select the time of day for your class. Call 887-5536.

SWADC is also looking for volunteers to become tutors for adults who want one- on-one assistance with basic skills. It's a great resume builder.


First Baptist Church will be having a Weigh Down Workshop beginning soon. This 12-week seminar will begin with a free orientation session on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. at the church. If you want to take your focus away from food, break the magnetic pull of the refrigerator and be free of 'yo-yo' dieting, the Weigh Down Workshop is for you.

The Sulzer-Turner-Otwell families will be having its family reunion June 12 and 13 in Texarkana. The families said more details will be given later.


Goodtime Squares of Prescott will be giving dance lessons beginning January 26 with two weeks free. The lessons will be given at the V.F.W. Hall in Prescott, and will include country and western, line and square dancing. For more information, call 887-3653.


Southwest Arkansas Development Council has mailed winter heat applications to elderly and handicapped food stamp households. Other food stamp households may come by 304 East Vine Prescott to pick up an application.

If your household does not receive food stamps and you think that you might be eligible for heating assistance, call 887-5171 for an appointment.

When you come to the office to complete a non-food stamp appli-cation, bring with you proof of income and a recent stub from your heating bill. These applications will be taken Tuesday through Thursday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. only.


Last call is being made by the Extension service. Some winners in the Nevada County Fair have not picked up their premium checks. Have you picked up yours?

According to the Extension service these are the checks the office is still holding: Debbie Abney, Prescott FBLA booth, David Fain, Pauline Hays, Mary Legg, Loyce McGill, and Lillian Tackett. These may pick up their checks at the Nevada County Extension office at 532 West First Street South, or call (870) 887-2818 between 8:00 and 4:30 Monday through Friday to pick up your check.


There will be a singing Saturday, January 24, at Rosston Baptist Church. Featured will be Infinite Grace, a quartet out of Camden. In addition, there will be six more individuals and groups performing. The singing begins at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is invited.

David and Arla Yowell of Broken Arrow, Okla., proudly announce the arrival of Alisha Kate on Friday, January 2, 1998. She weighed eight pounds and six ounces and she was 20 + inches in length. Alisha was welcomed home by big brother, Brad.

Maternal grandparents are John and Betty Hensley of Charlestown, Ind. Paternal grandparents are Dan and Sara Yowell of Prescott. Mother, daughter and grandmother Sara are doing fine.


The Prescott Church of God will sponsor a musical featuring the Voices of Praises from Camden Saturday, January 24, at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is invited
