For lots of jokes, music and entertainment, plan to be at the event at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $3 each and can be purchased from any Close-Up student or at the door. Beirne Rural Fire Department is having a chili supper February 7 from 3:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Beirne Fire Station. The cost will be $5 per plate and refills on chili only. There will be chili, drinks, Fritos, onions and desert. Come on out and support your local fire department. Everyone is welcome. The Clark County Extension office will host a program Thursday, January 22, environment education. The program is designed for students in grades nine through 12. Students can participate in five categories: aquatics, forestry, soil, wildlife and current environmental issues. The meeting will be held at the Extension office at 423 Clay in Arkadelphia. The board of directors of the Southwest Waste Management District will meet today (Wednesday) at 10:00 a.m. in the Jones Mill Industrial Park Conference Center at Jones Mill. Born to James and Melinda Rhodes, a daughter, Sheala Rena, Tuesday, January 13, 1998. She weighed six pounds and 15 ounces at birth. She has a two- year-old brother, Nicholas. Her maternal grandparents are Denny and Jewell Francis. Her paternal grandparents are Paul and Letty King of California. Robbie and Patricia Moore of Conway are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Olivia Grace Moore. Olivia was born Friday, January 9, 1998. She weighed six pounds and 10 ounces and was 20 inches long. Grandparents are Joyce Long and the late J.D. Long, Troy and Mary Ricketts and the late Robert Moore. Great grandmothers are Ruthie Mae Stroud and Katie Moore. The Testimonies will be singing at Oak Grove Community Church January 24 at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend. Refreshments will be served. Learn to make a table lamp using your favorite soda pop cans as a base at a workshop on Thursday, January 29, at 9:30 a.m., sponsored by the Clark County Extension Homemakers. Cost of the workshop is $10. You must sign up by Jan. 12. Come by the Clark County Cooperative Extension Office, 5th and Clay Streets in Arkadelphia, to sign up, or call 246-2281 for more details. The Arkansas Rehabilitation Services will be in Gurdon on January 29 at the Gurdon Municipal Building from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. New applications are welcome. The regular meeting of the Arkadelphia 2025 Commission will meet Thursday, January 29, at 5:30 p.m. This meeting will be held jointly with the 2025 Task Force and will focus on project updates. Alcoholics Anonymous meets on Wednesdays and Sundays at 8:00 p.m. at the American Legion building, Highway 67 North, one mile out of Gurdon. For information, phone 353-6138.
