The Prescott Elementary students studied and enjoyed Eastern bluebirds outside of their library window. Throughout last spring, PES students have watched the blue birds build their nests. This winter the ambassadors added something new. They cooked up a recipe of corn meal, peanut butter and shortening for the bluebirds to enjoy. The feeding station was right on top of their house. The birds have enjoyed the food and the kids have enjoyed watching the birds.

Alyssa Andrews, Bryan Sanford, Colton McClure and Tabatha Langston, PES Ambassadors, mixed and measured the ingredients to make the bluebird food.

Nevada's senior boys found traveling to Stamps to be an unpleasant experience.

When they made the trip Friday, Jan. 23, the Blue Jays returned home with a 75- 66 loss to the Yellow Jackets.

The two squads played even in the opening eight minutes, which ended with the score tied 16-16.

Then, the Jackets began pulling away, when the buzzer sounded ending the first half of play, the host team was leading 33-24.

The Jays, however, have no quit in them and fought back to narrow the gap to 53-51 by the end of three.

Stamps, though, had more firepower and kick left at the end when it counted and was able to salt the game away.

Julius Gulley and J.J. Lewis led the way for the Nevada attack with 13 points each. Mike Lowe stroked the nylons for 11.

Nelson was red hot from the field as he poured in 32 points. Robinson wasn't far behind as he ripped the cords for 20.

The Jays were six of 10 from the free throw line, while Stamps converted 18 of 30 shots.

Nevada's Lady Jays didn't like their visit to Stamps any more than their male counterparts, as they fell victim to the Lady Jackets 59-56.

Ramona Evans had a hot hand scoring eight points in the opening period as Nevada took a 10-7 lead.

Though she added seven more in the second frame, the Lady Jackets were able to rebound and take a 26-23 lead to the locker room at the half.

The Lady Jays rallied in the third to once again take the lead at 40-34, but were unable to hold on in the final eight minutes.

Evans was the bulk of Nevada's offense as she heated up the irons for 29 points as the only Lady Jay in double figures.

Dockey led the Lady Jackets with 23 points on the night, while Davis followed with 12.

The Lady Jays managed to hit eight of 14 from the charity stripe, with Stamps netting 18 of 25 free throw attempts.

The junior Lady Jays opened with an 8-5 lead, stretching it to a 23-10 advantage at the half.

The carnage continued in the second half as Nevada pulled to a 35-20 lead at the end of three.

Jenifer Harding tossed the rock in for 18 points, with teammate Ronetha Pearson contributing 12 in the win.

Stamps was led by Hamilton, who had six.

Fordyce proved to be no challenge for the Wolverettes Friday night, Jan. 23, as Prescott won 59-45.

The game had been scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 27, but both teams had Friday open and agreed to the change.

When the Wolverettes showed up, the Lady Red Bugs wished they hadn't. Prescott jumped all over the Lady 'Bugs in the opening eight minutes with a 14-0 lead.

The punishment continued in the second period, as the Wolverettes had their way racing to a 35-8 halftime advantage.

Coach Bill Cossey called off the dogs in the second half, allowing the Lady 'Bugs to make the game look closer than it really was.

By the end of three, Prescott held a comfortable 52-21 lead, but wholesale substitutions in the final eight minutes let the host team close the gap considerably.
