Al-Anon, for those affected by another's drinking, meets Thursday evenings at 8:00 in the church. For more information call 887-5991. Narcotics Anonymous now meets in Gurdon at the Presbyterian Church on Tuesdays and Fridays from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. For more information, call 353-6612. The second annual Miss UACCH Pageant will be held March 14 in the auditorium of University of Arkansas Community College at Hope. Contestants must be currently enrolled at UACCH. For further eligibility requirements and entry forms, call Jamie West at 870-777- 5722, extension 239. The deadline for entries is February 13. It is a preliminary pageant for choosing Miss Arkansas and Miss America. Prescott Elementary School is now accepting orders for the 1998 yearbook. This year's book will be called Children's World. It will feature more than 40 pages of pictures. The cost of the book is $15. Place your order early as no extra books will be ordered. The deadline for ordering is February 6. If you would like to order one for your child or grandchild, contact Prescott Elementary School at 887-2514. SWADC Literacy classes will be held weekdays in Prescott beginning in February. Class times are flexible You can help select the time of day for your class. Call 887-5536. SWADC is also looking for volunteers to become tutors for adults who want one- on-one assistance with basic skills. It's a great resume builder. Ricky and Nancy Burke are proud to announce the arrival of their granddaughter, Shelby Malynn Cuthbertson. Shelby was born Sat-urday, December 27, 1997, at Craven Regional Medical Center in New Bern, N.C. She weighed nine pounds and three ounces. Shelby measured 20 inches in length. Shelby's parents are Sgt. and Mrs. Shawn (Kristie) Cuthbertson. She was welcomed home by her six-year-old brother, Brayden, and her four-year-old sister, Ashlie. Nana and Poppa flew to Havelock, N.C., to become acquainted with their new grandchild and to spoil Brayden and Ashlie just a little bit more. The Hope Quilter's Guild will hold its monthly business meeting Monday, February 2, in the Citizens National Bank Conference Room in Hope at 7:00 p.m. Show and tell will follow the meeting. The Festival of Two Rivers in Arkadelphia is accepting appli-cations for its 1998 Arts and Crafts Show. The festival will be on April 10 and 11 in downtown Arkadelphia. Booth rental fee is $35 per 10x10 booth. This show is open to all handmade arts and crafts, paintings, pottery, ceramics, woodcrafts and jewelry. Electricity is provided for those who wish to demonstrate their craft. Interested applicants may receive an application through the Arkadelphia Area Chamber of Commerce, P. O. Alliance Home Health Care will sponsor the February coffee for the Prescott- Nevada County Chamber of Commerce. It will be held Friday, February 13, from9:00 to 11:00 a.m. The coffee will be held in the offices of Alliance Home Health at 300 East Second South. Everyone is invited. The Prescott FFA Alumni will hold its annual meeting on Saturday, February 7, at 5:30 p.m. at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. The annual membership drive is underway. The Nevada County Cattlemen's Association will meet Monday, February 2, at 7:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the First United Methodist Church. Nevada County Ranch Supply is the sponsor. The speaker will be Dr. Randall Adams from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia. The topic will be fire ant control. The annual membership drive is underway. The Emmet School board will have its regular monthly meeting Monday evening, February 2, at 7:00 in room 4. The agenda will include approval of the minutes, warrants, financial statement, elementary principal's report, secondary principal's report, superintendent's report and personnel matters. The Ambassadors will begin their 1998 tour season with a gospel singing at Union Baptist Church near Bodcaw. There will be a potluck supper at 6 p.m. with the singing at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited. Entertainment, crafters and food vendors are needed for the fifth annual Sawmill Days Festival on Saturday, April 11, located in Sparkman. The Southern Arkansas University Agriculture/Collegiate FFA will have a donkey basketball game Thursday, February 12. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Student Activities Building on the SAU campus. Tickets are $4 in advance and $5 at the door. Advanced tickets can be purchased in Childs Hall in office 104. The Magnolia Hereford Association will hold its annual Polled Hereford Show and Sale Saturday, February 21 at 9:00. The sale will start at 12:30 p.m. The Southern Arkansas University Agriculture/Collegiate FFA will provide concessions for the events.
