Telemarketing RestrictionsPublished Wednesday, October 27, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneThe state attorney general's office is on schedule to implement restrictions on telemarketing by January 1, 2000, an official reported during a legislative committee meeting. The attorney general will compile a list of people who do not wish to be called by telemarkets. It telemarketers call people who are listed, they can be fined. A publicity campaign is set to begin next month advising consumers how to put their names on the list. It may cost up to $10 the first year and $5 to renew annually.
