Evelyn Gates TaylorPublished Wednesday, February 4, 1998 in the Gurdon TimesEvelyn Gates Taylor of Hamburg died Thursday, January 29, 1998, at Trinity Village Medical Center in Pine Bluff. Mrs. Taylor was born in Gurdon, August 17, 1908, to Oscar Jefferson and Pearl Wingfield Gates. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond A. Taylor. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Scott of Pine Bluff, Marilyn Taylor and her husband, Robert S. Taylor Jr., of Houston, Texas; grandsons, David Andrew Taylor of Houston, Dr. R. Stan Taylor III and wife, Kathy, of Dallas, Texas, Todd Taylor Scott and his wife, Billie, of St. Louis, Mo.; granddaughter, Amber Scott of Pine Bluff; and five great grandchildren; and her sister, Margaret Calley of Gurdon. A memorial service was held Sunday, February 1, at the First Methodist Church in Hamburg, and graveside services were held Monday, February 2, at Rose Hedge Cemetery in Gurdon, under the direction of Horne Funeral Home of Grudon.
