St. Jude Set To Raise Funds Locally

Published Wednesday, February 11, 1998 in the Gurdon Times

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital announced today that Debbie White, youth director for First United Methodist Church of Gurdon, has been chosen to coordinate a fund-raising event in Gurdon for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The event will be held this Friday, February 13.

St. Jude Children's Research was founded by the late entertainer, Danny Thomas.

The institution opened its doors to the public in 1962 to combat catastrophic diseases that afflict the children of the world. To date, over 14,500 children and their families have found hope at the hospital.

The money raised by events like this one makes it possible for the hospital to treat its patients regardless of the family's insurance status or ability to pay.

Of equal importance is the fact that St. Jude shares all of the information gained from its research and treatment techniques with hospitals and doctors around the world. Thanks to St. Jude's local and international efforts, children around the world will benefit from the efforts of the people of Gurdon.

For more information about the event, call White at 353-4311.
