BEST MEMBER John French, president of First State Bank of Gurdon, accepted the honor as the Chamber Member of the Year during Monday night's Chamber of Commerce Banquet. Chamber President Anita Cabe said the bank has been involved in community activities throughout the year, works with the FFA and Close Up Programs and donated $25 for each touchdown scored by the Go-Devil football team as well as every interception made.

CITIZEN OF THE YEAR There were few surprises Monday night at the Gurdon Chamber of Commerce Banquet, held in the GHS cafetorium, as Freddie Horne was named Citizen of the Year. Horne earned this honor for his work with the Community Development and Entertainment Club (CD&E), which is primarily responsible for the annual Forest Festival. Horne also teaches COE and physics at GHS and is the school's FBLA sponsor.
