DOUBLE OVERTIME

It took two overtime periods for the Curley Wolves to dispatch the Scrappers 70-52. Prescott also needed several mistakes by Nashville in the second overtime for the win.

The Wolves took an 8-7 lead at the end of one and led 20-14 at the half. The third quarter saw Prescott up 30-26.

However, Nashville rallied in the final regulation period to tie the score at 43-43, thereby sending the game into its first extra period.

Both squads sparred in the first overtime, each scoring five points and seeing the initial extra five minutes end with the score 48-48.

The Wolves administered the knockout punch early in the second OT with a bucket, followed by a Nashville foul, forcing the Scrappers to play catchup a game they were no good at.

Morrow enjoyed finding the bottom of the net as he scored 26 to lead all scorers in the game. Sidney Giles was next with 13, while Tucker Baker contributed 11 and Calvon Flemons added 10.

Willie Scott, Travell Green and Jason Pope all scored 10 for Nashville.

The Wolves shot well at the line, netting 27 of 37 tries, while Nashville hit 17 of 29 from the charity stripe.

"We're playing about as well as we can," Wolf coach Matt McClure said of his charges. "We don't have much depth, but they're playing hard and rebounding well."

He said the Wolves are also shooting free throws better than they did earlier in the season.

Prescott's senior boys will finish no worse than fourth in the 7AA, and with a win over De Queen could be third.

Fordyce has already won the conference title, with Fountain Lake finishing second.

Should the Wolves win one game in the district tournament, being played at Prescott this year, they will advance to the regional tourney. One win in the regionals will give the Wolves a trip to the state tourney at Drew Central during the first week of March.

"We're just taking it one game at a time," McClure said.
