Johnston Earns Spot In Air Force Academy

Al Johnston, a senior at Prescott High School has been appointed to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Fourth District Congressman Jay Dickey received word February 4 that Johnston had received an appointment to the academy.

Johnston is the son of Don and Micki Johnston of Prescott. He is currently ranked first in his class at PHS.

Johnston has served as president of the National Honor Society, vice president of the Future Business Leaders of America and president of the Fellowship of Christian athletes.

He has been involved in the Key Club, Mock Trial, Quiz Bowl, Arkansas Boys State, Hugh O'Brien Youth Conference, Boy Scouts of America and Central Baptist Church youth group. He has been a member of track, golf, baseball and football varsity athletic teams as well.

"Al is a well rounded young man, and I am proud of his dedication to education as well as service to our country," Congressman Dickey said in a news release. "I wish Al the best of luck and congratulate him once again on his appointment."
