Check Septic Before Buying HomePublished Wednesday, February 11, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneHave you been thinking about moving to the country? If the piece of land being considered for investment has no public sewer facilities, you should find out if it will support a septic system, according to the Nevada County Health Department. Act 402 protects the consumer by requiring a permit before installing a septic system. The law also requires that all septic tank installers and pumpers be registered with the Arkansas Department of Health, Division of Sanitarian Services. A malfunctioning septic system is a hazard to your health, so before buying land, contact your local sanitarian at the Nevada County Health Unit.
