Howard Taylor Seeks ReelectionBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, February 11, 1998 in the Nevada County Picayune Prescott Mayor Howard Taylor announces his bid for reelection as mayor. "It has been a privilege serving the citizens of Prescott as mayor," he said, "but our work is not complete." Since 1995, he said, Prescott has been committed to expanding job opportunities for the local citizenry. Much has been accomplished, Taylor continued, by preparing for economic development. Resources have been committed to predetermined tasks expected to pay great dividends in the future, he said. "As mayor, my number one priority will be to continue creating more and better jobs for our citizens and our children through investing in our great city." These investments, he said, are in the form of city beautification, economic development and infrastructure improvements. The beautification projects include the downtown area and major entrances to Prescott on Highway 67. In the area of economic development, he said, the city has established its first industrial park, complete with a 50,000 square foot spec building. An additional duty as mayor, Taylor said, will be reinvesting and upgrading the public utilities, including water, electricity and sewer. A supplementary plan is investing in public safety through upgrades in the Prescott Police Department. These improvements will be a planned approach in efforts to make the city better for the current residents and future business and industry. Taylor urges citizens to get involved in planning for Prescott's future. "I want to hear your concerns," he said. "I need your ideas. I have an open door policy and extend an invitation for your recommendations and ideas. I am seeking our support and vote in the upcoming Democratic primary election."
