News - Oak GroveLula Q. KendrickPublished Wednesday, February 18, 1998 in the Nevada County Picayune This is the day the Lord has made. Let's rejoice and be glad in it. Folks in this area were without power for two days last week after we were hit by a big storm that left all the creeks overflowing and many trees down. Thank God it was not bad as it was in other places. The daycare center opened up Monday, February 16, at Oak Grove. Marie Sanders passed away in Medical Park Hospital last week. A Black History program will be presented at New Bethel A.M.E. Church Sunday. We need to know more about our heritage. We are getting some new neighbors in the Oak Grove Com-munity. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Tidwell bought the Jenkins Estate. They are getting it ready to move into. He is a very smart boy. He is the son of Bracy Tidwell. He sells and lays carpet. He does nice work. We are still looking for the alumni to help plan for the two days' activities. L.Z. 'Zeke' Martin's wife was buried Monday at Arkadelphia. My cousin, Lawrence Christ-opher, and one of his friends visited us Saturday. He found a nice girl from Camden. I am looking for him to move back to Arkansas. California is getting to be something else. I am going to the doctor every other day. Pray for me and my family. Sympathy goes out to the Sanders family and also to the Martin family.
