Consultant Program SetPublished Wednesday, February 18, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneCrop consultants and agri-business field representatives will learn the latest techniques for producing cotton, rice, soybeans, wheat and corn during the 1998 Consultant Education Program, February 18-19 at the Airport Holiday Inn in Little Rock. The training is being conducted by University of Arkansas agricultural researchers and UA Cooperative Extension Service specialists and county agents as well as other farm consultants and ag-industry experts. "The training will allow certified crop consultants to earn continuing education credits, or CECs for each crop," says Gus Lorenz, Extension service Integrated Pest Management coordinator. Lorenz says registration for the first day's training begins at 8:00 a.m. General sessions on herbicide drift problems and computer usage will begin at 9:00 a.m. and be followed at 10:15 a.m. by concurrent sessions on soybean and corn production. Those sessions will end at 3:00 p.m., and then shortly afterwards a training program for wheat will begin. Registration for the second day begins at 7:30 a.m. Sessions on cotton production will be held from 8 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., and training on rice production will be conducted from 8 a.m. till noon.
